BioI'm a professor of mathematics at a small engineering/science university in the southwest. Originally from the midwest (Omaha), but spent a good part of my life in the northeast (Troy NY and Boston MA.) Now, I'm comfortably rooted in the southwest.
I'm in my mid forties, diagnosed in 2005 with diabetes, and busy trying to deal with that chronic disease. As the before/after pictures show, I've lost quite a bit of weight. My blood sugar has also improved dramatically. In many ways this was a blessing- better to deal with this disease now then to keel over from a heart attack at a young age because it wasn't caught.
Somewhere along the line, daily exercise went from being something that I did for my health to something that I actually enjoyed doing. I run (as much as 25-30 miles a week), do yoga, and lift weights.
